As a member of UCSB's Formula SAE Electric chapter, Gaucho Racing, I've had the opportunity to design and manufacture the drivetrain system for an electric race car.

I designed components such as the mounts and sprocket adapters using SolidWorks. I utilized FEA simulations in ANSYS and SolidWorks to ensure safe operation and optimize these designs.

I also used MATLAB to create laptime simulations of the car. This was done to select a gear ratio of the drivetrain to squeeze out the fastest possible track times.

Now that I am going into my 3rd year in SAE, I've become the lead of the drivetrain subteam. Our goals for the upcoming 2025 season is to further optimize our mounts for weight, and develop our drivetrain system with a wheel hub motor setup.
