As a member of UCSB's Formula SAE Electric chapter, Gaucho Racing, I've had the opportunity to design and manufacture the drivetrain system for an electric race car.

As Drivetrain lead, I designed components such as the mounts and sprocket adapters using SolidWorks. I utilized FEA simulations in ANSYS and SolidWorks to ensure safe operation and optimize these designs.

I also used MATLAB to create laptime simulations of the car. This was done to select a gear ratio of the drivetrain to squeeze out the fastest possible track times.

Now that I am going into my 4th year in SAE, I'm transitioning to be the Mechanical technical director. Our goals for the upcoming 2026 season are to further optimize our mounts for weight and develop a water-cooled powertrain.
